The San Diego Union-Tribune

Oceanside: If there is anything Oceanside can use, it is a little council unity. Oceanside needs less of internecine politics and more of council members trying to work together for the good of the city.

So, shame on council member Esther Sanchez. In a city known for revolving door department heads, the council's will was to remove the word “interim” from the title of interim City Manager Peter Weiss.

Sanchez was the only negative vote against Weiss in a closed session, which certainly was her prerogative.

But then Sanchez came into open session and distributed a written statement that Weiss was not the best qualified person and praising the resume of someone else.

To what purpose? Certainly not toward the goal of good governance and working cooperatively.

Such a classless action may be politics, as Sanchez understands it, but it is not politic as in “having practical wisdom; prudent; shrewd; diplomatic.”

This exhibition of tackiness should give even Sanchez supporters pause.
COMMENT:
THE 900 POUND GORILLA OF OCEANSIDE POLITICS IS AT AGAIN SPREADING HER HATE AND DISCONTENT AFTER SEVERAL WELL-QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR CITY MANAGER TURNED IT DOWN BECAUSE OF SANCHEZ'S MEAN-SPIRITED POLITICS..........LAWSON
PS....Now she breaks the "BROWN ACT".....

Oceanside residents - this city is besieged by elected officials who no longer believe they are accountable to the people who elected them! Councilwoman Esther Sanchez promotes a divisive agenda and attacks personally those who do not agree with her narrow-minded vision of Oceanside.

"It's time to vote Councilwoman  Esther Sanchez out of office"
Sanchez has:
Promoted secretly negotiated "sweetheart" deals seeking to sell off city assets at below-market values.

Jeopardized city finances by approving exorbitant pay and benefit increases in exchange for their political muscle and monetary donations.

Endangered public safety by eliminating necessary roadways, slowing emergency response times.

Encouraged continued gang violence by blocking funding for a successful, local faith-based group that mentors high-risk youth.
